Chapter 1: The Day That Began It All

Jessie come back. No, don't go into the woods. JESSIE!! I woke up screaming. I kept having the same dream. I didn't know a Jessie and I certainly didn't live by the woods. But the dream kept coming and the same boy appeared in my dreams. I stared at the ceiling in shock. I tried to collect myself, but I was terrified. Who was this Jessie? And what was he doing in my head, my dreams, my life?

I woke up the next morning and my mom was already packed and eating. "Where are we going?"  I asked. "To the lake" she replied nonchalantly. The lake was the most boring place in the world, no joke. I didn't bother to get changed, but instead took my ipod, a handful of cheerios, and got into the car. A half hour later and after listening to the song Airplanes by B.o.B and Hayley Williams 100 times, we had arrived at  Lake Blank. I left my mom and dad to unpack and then left. I walked around the woods with a feeling of being followed. It sent shivers up my spine. I heard the scream of Jessie. I whipped around. This boy stood in front of my eyes. Brooding, just standing there. He then spoke, "Hello". "Who are you?" I said back, making eye contact into his mysterious eyes. "Don't you know me?" The boys eye's pierced mines. I blinked. "I don't think so", I stepped back. Fear overcame me. He spoke again, barely moving his lips. His voice sounded like harmony and chiming bells. "You know me. Think," I took a deep breath. I racked my brain for an answer. And then I froze. It couldn't be. I stared for a moment. Then I said the one name that had been stuck in my head for so long. "Jessie". When I said that name, it was thick with fear, confusion, and relief. The boy nodded. I took a deep breath, and stepped forward. I wanted to tear my eyes off him, but I couldn't. Something about him was too compelling. I wanted to run and leave for, there was thick fear and curiousity layering the air. He put out his hand after I stepped closer, and out of curiosity I took it. His hand was cold. He started to pull me and I followed him, mezmorized. I didn't know what was going on or where we were going. All I knew was that this Jessi character had been in my dreams, and now that I had found him I wouldn't lose him again. I just couldn't let go of him. Ten minutes later, we started to walk deeper into the eerie forest. My mom had texted me, saying lunch was ready and to come back to the lake. Afraid of losing Jessie, and not wanting to leave him, I texted her back saying I'd be there by 2. It was already 11:45. I had only 2 hours and 15 minutes left with Jessie. I then turned to Jessie and spoke for the first time in a while, "That was my mom. I have to get back to the lake by 2." Jessie then stopped and picked me up. Before I knew it he was walking faster, not running but more of jogging. I began to notice how he looked. He was masculine, with blond hair that was streaked with purple. His eye brows had a hint of red in them. But his eyes, they seemed to be empty. They seemed to be as if they were haunted, filled with pain. Even though I was gazing intently into his eyes, I felt scared looking into them.  In about half an hour, we had arrived at a cave in the middle of no where. He called the cave his home. The entrance to the cave was a bamboo door. We walked inside and at the back of the cave there was a young woman cooking. We didn't say anything, she just turned to us and said, "Hello, Jessie. I see you have found Semma. She looks exactly like I imagined her." She gazed at me, as if she was thoroughly observing me like a testing specimen. I suddenly felt self conscious, but my tension eased a bit when the young woman spoke again. "She's beautiful, with that fiery red hair. Those green eyes, they sparkle like emeralds." But the woman didn't mention the fact that I, was just skinny, medium height, and wore a lot of black. I whipped those thoughts out of my mind, and glanced around the cave.
